Raffaele Monti (1818-1881) | Allegorical sculptor


Raffaele Monti was an Italian🎨 sculptor, author and poet born in Milan.
He studied under his father, the noted sculptor Gaetano Matteo Monti in the Imperial Academy.
He was invited to Vienna while aged only 20 where he received extensive patronage, he subsequently returned to Milan in 1840.
In 1846 Monti travelled to England for the year, and later settled there.

Pino Daeni | Romantic painter

Giuseppe Dangelico Daeni (1939-2010) was an Italian Impressionist book illustrator and painter.
Trained in Italy at the Art institute of Bari, and later at Milan's Academy of Brera, Pino perfected his skills painting figure studies heavily influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli.
After establishing himself as a successful artist in his native land, Pino immigrated to the United States, seeking more artistic freedom and opportunity.
Pino has illustrated 3.000 books, movie posters and magazine illustrations and his style has dominated the market.

Laura Coombs Hills (1859-1952)


Laura Coombs Hills was an American artist🎨 and illustrator who specialized in watercolor and pastel still life paintings, especially of flowers, and miniature portrait paintings on ivory.
She became the first miniature painter elected to the Society of American Artists, and she was a founder of the American Society of Miniature Painters.

Wlastimil Hofman | Pittore simbolista

Wlastimil Hofman (1881-1970) era un pittore accademico Ceco-Polacco, rappresentante del simbolismo.
Era il più giovane dei sei figli di Ferdinand Hofmann e della sua moglie polacca, Teofila Muziková.
Nel 1889, la famiglia si trasferì a Cracovia, dove Wlastimil frequentò la St. Wenceslas School.

Alessandro Puttinati (1801-1872)

Alessandro Puttinati, also Putinati was an Italian sculptor.
Son of the engraver and medalist Frncesco, he was a pupil and follower of the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844) in Rome.
Among his best known works are some statues for the cathedral of Milan; the statues of San Carlo and Sant'Ambrogio in San Simpliciano; the Monument to Carlo Porta (1862) which was located in the Giardini di Porta Venezia and was destroyed during the Anglo-American bombing in Milan as well, the one to Garibaldi in Luino (1867), the first dedicated statue to Garibaldi still alive and of the statue of Masaniello (1846) today at the Gallery of Modern Art (1846).

William Jabez Muckley (1829-1905)


William Jabez Muckley was a noted English artist🎨 who was born at Wordsley, Kingswinford, in Staffordshire. He was the eldest of the seven children of Jabez Muckley who was a glass artisan.
William Jabez Muckley began his career as a glass cutter with W.H.B. and J.Richardson of Wordsley and became their principal designer and engraver.
When only 22, he was responsible for much of the engraving that earned the firm considerable praise in the Great Exhibition of 1851.
