Louis Apol | Pittore di paesaggi invernali

Louis Apol (L'Aia, 1850-1936) è stato un pittore Olandese, uno dei rappresentanti più importanti della Scuola dell'Aia.

Il talento di Apol fu scoperto precocemente e suo padre gli fece prendere lezioni private di pittura. I suoi insegnanti erano J.F. Hoppenbrouwers e P.F. Stortenbeker.

Ricevette una borsa di studio dal Re olandese Guglielmo III nel 1868.

Si specializzò in paesaggi con atmosfere invernali, soprattutto foreste, in cui sono presenti manufatti artificiali, come un ponte od una recinzione. Raramente le persone sono raffigurate nei suoi dipinti.

Johnny Palacios Hidalgo, 1970

Nato a Callao in Perù, il pittore surrealista Johnny Palacios Hidalgo ha compiuto i seguenti studi:

1988-1990 Disegno e Pittura presso il Museo d'Arte di Lima;

1991-1998 Pittura presso la Scuola Nazionale di Belle Arti di Lima.

Per quattro anni l’artista ha vissuto a Puerto Rico e questo soggiorno ha inevitabilmente influenzato il suo lavoro.

Jessica Hayllar | Victorian painter

Jessica Ellen Hayllar (1858–1940) was a British artist and painter.

Hayllar was born in London and was the eldest daughter of the nine children born to Ellen Phoebe Cavell (1827-1899) and her husband James Hayllar (1829-1920).

The family lived at Mecklenburgh Square in London and also rented a country house in Suffolk for several months each year before moving to a large house, Castle Priory, by the Thames at Wallingford, then in Berkshire. Hayllar and her four sisters attended a day school in Gower Street and all were given art lessons by their father, who was himself a well-regarded painter.

Jessica Hayllar became the most prolific artist among the Hayllar offspring, although her sister Edith also achieved some recognition.

389th anniversary of Johannes Vermeer's birth

Today’s Doodle celebrates Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, a seminal Baroque artist who is widely regarded among the greatest Dutch painters of all time.

Johannes Vermeer (October 1632 - December 1675) was a Dutch painter who specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life. He was a moderately successful provincial genre painter in his lifetime but evidently was not wealthy, leaving his wife and children in debt at his death, perhaps because he produced relatively few paintings.

Vermeer worked slowly and with great care, and frequently used very expensive pigments. He is particularly renowned for his masterly treatment and use of light in his work.
Vermeer painted mostly domestic interior scenes.

"Almost all his paintings are apparently set in two smallish rooms in his house in Delft; they show the same furniture and decorations in various arrangements and they often portray the same people, mostly women".

Anatoliy Kalugin / Анатолий Калугин was born in 1959. He lives in Moscow, Russia.

Kalugin graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute and started to work as an artist.

Then he became interested in the computer processing of photos in order to get sketches of the future pictures.

The outcomes of the processing were attractiveness and integrity.

His nickname - Waatson - once, spontaneously chosen username to register on the Internet, became pseudonym for all his works.

L'artista Françoise Nielly è una ritrattista che usa un coltello invece del pennello.

Precisamente Nielly usa una spatola per dipingere i suoi ritratti. Questa tecnica significa che i volti famosi hanno una gamma di trame e segni su di essi, quasi come se le parti fossero state tagliate per rivelare altri colori sottostanti.

Le opere di Francoise Nielly sono ritratti vibranti, vividi e sorprendenti. Anche se la tecnica di Nielly consiste nell'usare un coltello per realizzare i suoi dipinti, i volti sono ancora molto intricati e dettagliati.

Nata a Marsiglia, Françoise Nielly è cresciuta vicino a Cannes e Saint-Tropez ed ora vive a Parigi.

Il pittore Spagnolo Juan Benito è nato in Castiglia. Compie i suoi studi artistici a Madrid e scopre l'affascinante mondo delle arene e dei toreri.

Negli anni '70, il pittore ha lavorato a Saint-Tropez e poi a Montmartre.

Fu in questo grande quartiere di artisti parigini che la sua opera fu scoperta da uno dei più grandi mercanti d'arte dell'epoca, Katia Granoff.

Quest'ultima espose le opere di Benito nella sua galleria oltre a Marc Chagall.

I suoi viaggio lo hanno portato ai quattro angoli del mondo: è andato in Messico, Stati Uniti, Canada, Costa Rica ecc.... poi è tornato in Francia e si è stabilito in Camargue, dove attualmente vive.

Harry Watrous (1857-1940)

Harry Willson Watrous was an American artist who received an academic education in France.

His paintings included genre scenes, stylized figural works, landscapes, nocturnes, portraits, and still lifes.

His 1913 painting The Drop Sinister has been called the first known portrait of an American interracial family.

He is perhaps best known for his enigmatic paintings of sophisticated women, often darkly dressed and seen in profile.

Harry Watrous was born in San Francisco in 1857, the son of Charles and Ruth Willson Watrous.

He had two brothers, Charles 1854-56 and Walter 1860-1903. Harrys father had been a whaler in his youth and made his fortune during the California Gold Rush.
