Joseph Schuster | Still life of flowers

Joseph Schuster (June 17, 1812 in Grätz, Austrian Silesia - March 15, 1890 in Vienna) was an Austrian flower painter.

He is not to be confused with the painter Josef Schuster (1873-1945).

Joseph (Josef) Schuster moved to Vienna with his family when he was a child, where he attended the first two classes of high school.

His talent was accidentally discovered by the academy professor Joseph Mössmer and encouraged by the imperial field marshal Prince Liechtenstein, for whom Schuster's father worked as a confectioner.

This enabled him to attend the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, where Joseph Mössmer, Sebastian Wegmayer and Franz Xaver Petter were his teachers.

After a spa stay in Bad Gastein, Schuster discovered it at the suggestion of Archduke Johannthe world of alpine flowers as an artistic theme in itself.

He achieved great success with the aristocratic and upper-class public, and his flower paintings were sold all over the world.

Joseph Schuster created numerous flower paintings and still lifes that were very popular in his day.

He was married to the Hungarian Anna Magdalena von Harlacher.

His daughter Adele Schuster also became a flower painter.

Joseph Schuster (17 giugno 1812 a Grätz, Slesia austriaca -15 marzo 1890 a Vienna) è stato un pittore di fiori Austriaco.

Non deve essere confuso con il pittore Josef Schuster (1873-1945).

Joseph (Josef) Schuster si trasferì da bambino con la famiglia a Vienna, dove frequentò le prime due classi del liceo.

Il suo talento fu scoperto per caso dal professore dell'accademia Joseph Mössmer ed incoraggiato dal feldmaresciallo imperiale Principe Liechtenstein, per il quale il padre di Schuster lavorava come pasticcere.

Questo gli ha permesso di frequentare l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Vienna, dove Joseph Mössmer, Sebastian Wegmayer e Franz Xaver Petter erano i suoi insegnanti.

Dopo un soggiorno termale a Bad Gastein, Schuster lo scoprì su suggerimento dell'arciduca Giovanni il mondo dei fiori alpini come tema artistico in sé.

Ottenne grande successo presso il pubblico aristocratico ed alto borghese ed i suoi quadri floreali furono venduti in tutto il mondo.

Joseph Schuster ha creato numerosi dipinti di fiori e nature morte che erano molto popolari ai suoi tempi.

Era sposato con l'ungherese Anna Magdalena von Harlacher.

Anche sua figlia Adele Schuster divenne una pittrice di fiori.
