Fascinated by pedestrian streets and squares, churches and covered markets, in fact, with everyday life, the French painter🎨 Jean-Charles Decoudun uses watercolors to paint these scenes of life.

The artist observes and notes that people are attracted to these places of daily scenes and enjoys painting their squares, cafés and streets. The subjects of his paintings are, in his eyes, the true creators.

Jean-Charles Decoudun was born in Paris. His grandfather was a painter, but he didn’t find his true vocation as a painter until he was 25, setting out to develop his artistic talent on his own with neither school nor mentor to guide him.

Following his own instinct and always highly critical of himself, he gradually forged his own pictorial identity. He began selling his works from table to table in restaurants, and later shared a studio with a painter friend in the Batignolles area of Paris.

His style gained in assurance, with his watercolours demonstrating a keen sense of observation and great sensitivity.

He exhibited his work all over France and, in 1997, held his first show at Galerie Roussard, at the top of the Butte Montmartre - the start of a long, ongoing partnership.

Jean-Charles Decoudun is in love with his city. Paris is a well-spring of inspiration for the artist, who still looks on it as a village.

Jean-Charles Decoudun è nato a Parigi. Suo nonno era pittore, ma Jean-Charles non ha trovato la sua vera vocazione di pittore fino a quando non aveva 25 anni, partendo per sviluppare il suo talento artistico da solo, senza che la scuola ed il mentore lo guidassero.

Seguendo il suo istinto e sempre molto critico nei confronti di se stesso, ha gradualmente forgiato la propria identità pittorica.

Ha iniziato a vendere i suoi lavori da un tavolo all'altro nei ristoranti, ed in seguito condivise uno studio con un amico pittore nella zona di Batignolles a Parigi.

Il suo stile ha acquisito sicurezza, con i suoi acquerelli che dimostrano un acuto senso di osservazione ed una grande sensibilità.

Ha esposto le sue opere in tutta la Francia e, nel 1997, ha tenuto il suo primo spettacolo alla Galerie Roussard, in cima al Butte Montmartre - l'inizio di una lunga collaborazione ancora in corso.

Jean-Charles Decoudun è innamorato della sua città. Parigi è una fonte di ispirazione per l'artista, che la considera ancora un villaggio.
