Ernest Rouart (1874-1942) | Impressionist painter

Ernest Rouart was one of the five children on Henri Rouart (1833-1912), an engineer, collector and artist.

Henri was intimately involved with the Impressionist painters, especially Degas🎨, whose "Dancers at the Bar", now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he once owned.

Henri exhibited in all the official Salons between 1868-1872 as well as with the Impressionists from 1876-1996 (except 1882).

Ernest Rouart was married to Julie Manet (1879-1966), daughter of Berthe Morisot🎨, and with his siblings (Hélène, Alexis, Eugène, and Louis) inherited his father's collection.

Ernest Rouart è stato un pittore ed incisore Francese🎨, nonché collezionista di opere d'arte.

Fu uno dei quattro figli di Henri Rouart e fratello dell'uomo politico Eugène Rouart, del quale eseguì un ritratto nel 1900 circa. Sposò Julie Manet, figlia di Berthe Morisot🎨 ed Eugène Manet.

Pittore impressionista, aiutò notevolmente la promozione di quella corrente artistica, contribuendo anche alla valorizzazione di Édouard Manet🎨, Edgar Degas🎨 e Berthe Morisot🎨.

Insieme alla moglie, donò molti dipinti di Morisot al museo del Louvre, tra cui "l'Hortensia", ed altri di Manet, come "La signora con i ventagli", che sono ora al museo d'Orsay.
