Born in Bolzano, Italy, awarded🎨 sculptor Peter Demetz lives and works in Ortisei (BZ).
He graduated from the Art Institute of Ortisei, he was an apprentice in the laboratory of master Heinrich Demetz.
In 1993 he obtained the master sculptor diploma.
Since then he has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Ortisei, Milan, Vail/ Colorado, Leipzig, Lichtenstein, Vienna, Florence, Bolzano, Lecce, Istanbul, Palma de Mallorca and Rome.


Between 1995-2002 he taught drawing, sculpture and art history at Ortisei Vocational School and Vocational School for Sculptors in Selva.
Between 1997-2000 he was president of the Gardenese Artistic Handicraft Association and president of the UNIKA group.
Since 2001 he has held seminars on topics related to sculpture, and courses in sculpture on wood, modeling and drawing, also for the Design center of the Swarovski company in Wattens, the LKJ-Sachsen of Leipzig, the Daetz-Centrum in Lichtenstein, the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara and the International Summer Academy in Dresden.
From 2002 to 2006 he was lecturer at the course Art studies of the wooden sculpture of the University of Zwickau (Germany),applied art faculty of Schneeberg, in the Daetz-Centrum in Lichtenstein.




















L'artista Italiano Peter Demetz nasce a Bolzano, vive e lavora ad Ortisei, in Val Gardena.
Dal 1983-1984 frequenta l'Istituto d’Arte di Ortisei, e dopo un periodo di apprendistato presso l'Atelier del Maestro Heinrich Demetz ottiene il Diploma di Maestro Scultore.
Dal 1995-2002 insegna alla Scuola Professionale di Ortisei e alla Scuola Professionale per Scultori di Selva.
Demetz è un artista che ha saputo dare viva voce alla Val Gardena: è infatti presidente dell’Associazione "Artigianato Artistico Gardenese" e presidente del Gruppo Unika dal 1997-2000.
Dal 2002-2006 è Docente Responsabile al Corso di Studi d’Arte della Scultura Lignea dell'Università di Zwickau in Germania, alla Facoltà d'Arte Applicata di Schneeberg, presso il Daetz-Centrum a Lichtenstein.
  • 2007 - Primo Premio al concorso per il 60° anniversario della Fiera di Bolzano, con l'opera "Padiglione 1";
  • 2010 - Vincitore al concorso artistico "III Triennale Ladina" al museo ladino di San Martino in Badia;
  • 2014 - Primo Premio "Premio Pio Alferano" al concorso "Murat è vivo" a Castellabate (SA), con l'opera "nelle strade di Pizzo".
